Throughout the ages many cultures have had a midday nap . Here in Aus, it hasn’t been a thing but we’d like to bring it back for ourselves and our clients. It is some of the best self-care you can do.
Did you know that each of the meridians have a two hour period of time where they are more “open” and have more of a natural flow that can be taken advantage of?
Now picture the Yin Yang symbol. The dark swish represents Yin and night time. The light swish represents Yang and day time.
The tail end of the dark swish actually starts at 11am in the day. This means the night time energy, the seed of it, begins then. This is also Heart meridian time. Your Heart is the Queen of all your organs and if your Heart is happy, everything flows downstream from that. Nourishing your Heart on a daily basis is not only good for your physical health but also your mental and emotional wellbeing.
So if you can rest even for 10-20 minutes, or up to a full hour, whatever you can manage, between the time of 11am-1`pm, you are putting in some serious self-care for your overall system.
Lying down at this time and putting on a timer or listening to a guided meditation or watching your breath, can really bring some energy back into your life and help you to sleep more soundly at night.
Many cultures for eons had it right – bring back the midday nap – it’s not just for our hot summer days over Christmas and Hannakuh!
This technique is especially good for:
- Working women who want to conceive but are so busy doing incredible amounts of work, they might stay up late for calls from around the globe or have to get up super early, or just overwhelmed with mounds of work on their plate.
- Pregnant women (especially in first and later third trimester)
- Mums who have night time waking children (ummm, does anyone not have one of those at some point?!,
- Midwives and nurses who are regularly on call during the night and need to re-balance throughout the week.
- People recovering from surgery.
- Women who have been burning the candle at both ends – this is for you!
Do this as regularly as you can. It’s not a one-off fix but a regular incredible self-care habit. Now that many of us are working more from home. It could be the perfect habit to start right now or at least to put on the list for your 2021 resolutions.
We wish you all the best for the festive season.
Love, laugh, and be merry!
We are still open throughout Dec and January, so book online here and if you are having too much difficulty finding a time that suits you please email us.
