My Two Cents on The Work Life Juggle

As we move now into the year of the Snake, it’s got me thinking…

Over the last 20 years there’s been a fair bit to juggle with work and family and there’s a few things I’ve learnt along the way that I wanted to share:

> Ensuring my health is flourishing has kept me sane and nourished and able to juggle all the balls

> Quality family time is super important for all of our souls

> Stepping back for periods of time and doing the bare minimum is needed for the long haul

> Being present when I’m in each situation is the best that I can do for those I’m in front of, whether it’s my children, my clients or my friends.

> Having time out just to have fun is what my heart needs.

> Enjoying good boundaries btw work and home helps things hum along nicely.

> Being grateful for my health, my family’s health, just life in general, helps me.

> There’s always someone who looks more together than me and that’s okay.

> The older I get, the more I am okay with who I am and what my capacity is.

Exploring greater depths of Chinese medicine in the year of the Snake

This year I’ve started a mentorship in the Complement Channels with Sean Tuten at the Classical Acupuncture College in New York. We heard about these channels at university but they didn’t teach us how to use them in clinic. I have been using them over the past year or so, as I’d already done some training with Ann Cecil-Sterman (who also lives in New York but she’s an Aussie) and they have been incredible. I’m currently writing up some case reports on their efficacy which will hopefully be published later this year.

Both Sean and Ann were taught by Jeffrey Yuen, who was part of an oral tradition that goes back over 2000 years. He’s the 88th generation to pass this information on. He gave Ann his blessing to write a book about them.  It is called Advanced Acupuncture, A Clinical Manual. Protocols for the Complement Channels of the Complete Acupuncture System: the Sinew, Luo, Divergent and Eight Extra Channels.

I am finding the techniques super helpful to assist with issues that clients have been struggling with for a long time, such as: fertility, hormonal dysregulation, weird one-sided muscular or nerve issues, reflux, coccyx/tailbone injury pain, MS… the list goes on. As I go along I’ll write more about it. I am loving it though. I can feel myself breathing more easily just listening to the lectures. You could say it’s resonating very deeply and making a lot of sense!
