Bec’s Bucket List Adventure and Who Will Be the Locum?

For the longest time I have dreamed about sleeping out under the stars, driving into the distance and exploring this wide expansive land we call home. And finally, I’m doing it. We are packing up our family, hubby and two kids and heading north to the NT and WA to discover all this country has to offer. We leave April 14 and will be gone for 7 weeks, schooling our kids on the road, camping, eating under the stars, discovering and just slowing down for a bit.

Whilst I’m gone, I have a wonderful person to step in for me who will take very good care of you. She’s a highly experienced acupuncturist who is currently also studying Medicine but more on her later.

You know that feeling you have deep in your bones that you want to do something? Well we are doing it and it feels fantastic. We’ve bought a second hand four wheel drive for the trip and have been researching what is the best stuff to take so we can fit it and us into our “truck”. My hubby has been incredible with his level of research and I feel super confident we have what we need to enjoy our time away. Sure we will learn loads on the road but it’s good to be as prepared as possible before heading off.

Our big goal is to make it to Kununurra and to begin exploring the famous Gibb River Road track. It’s 700-2000 km of off-road with many off shoots to gorges, waterfalls and places of Aboriginal art. It stretches from Kununurra to Derby which is 2.5 hours from Broome. Suffice to say, it’s going to be quite the adventure as there are no shops and we have to bring what we need to make it through those 2.5 weeks, something we haven’t done before but we’re up for the challenge.

So, I could go on and on about my trip, I’m just a tad excited but I’m sure you’d like to know more about the lady who will be stepping in for me at the Surry Hills Red Tent space (inside Wholistic Medical Centre). Her name is Yonit Belnick.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science (in TCM) from UTS in 2012. Her focus since then has been in fertility and women’s health, issues she feels passionately about. She’s been practicing in specialised clinics in Sydney for the past seven years.

Yonit combines evidence-based research as well as the enigmatic and poetic teachings of Chinese medicine, because like our mind and body, neither can be ignored. She’s committed to providing safe, comfortable, and supportive treatments, as well as realistic health goals and plans that are individualised to suit your life.

In order to broaden her understanding of the body and the reach of acupuncture, she started studying medicine (Doctor of Medicine, UNDS) in 2018.

She has locumed for us at Red Tent many times over the years. I highly recommend her and will leaving you in her care whilst I enjoy some important time out with my family.
