Pregnancy Massage
This is such a special time for you and your growing baby. It’s also quite stressful on the body and you can develop no end of aches and pains that can be soothed away by a specialised pregnancy massage that hits all the right spots! You deserve it and your body deserves it. After all, it’s a huge job creating a new life. Our massage therapists are specially trained and know the do’s and dont’s so you can lie down, relax and completely enjoy your experience.
A soothing, nurturing touch, combined with focused, individualized attention to the woman’s physical and emotional needs, helps create relaxation and balance in the body with reduced fear and anxiety. Regularly experiencing a deep sustained relaxation is particularly beneficial during the latter stages of pregnancy, labour and birth. Sensory awareness and relaxation are necessary to be not only active, but able to completely ‘let go’ in the birth experience.
Some other benefits of massage in pregnancy include: maintaining skin elasticity, improving muscle tone, enhancing sleep, reducing stress on weight bearing joints, improving digestion, enhancing blood circulation, and stimulating lymphatic flow.
Allow yourself to be pampered with a nurturing and knowing touch in a safe space.
You have the choice of side lying or ‘belly down’ with our specifically designed Belly Pillow ®.
Remedial Massage
This is a deep tissue massage, which aims to work through your knots and enable you to feel a whole lot more relaxed and de-stressed by the end of it. It really is one of those massages where you hear yourself saying “how does she know that’s just the right spot?” Well at the Red Tent, we do. We make it our business to know muscles and to communicate with you so that you receive the massage you need.
Lymphatic Drainage
What is Lymphatic Drainage?
Developed in the 1930s, lymphatic drainage is a delicate form of massage that stimulates the body’s lymphatic system, improving its overall metabolism. Using a blend of gentle, soothing, rhythmical, precise massage-like movements the flow of lymphatic fluid is accelerated in the body. Pressure is light and superficial, contact is with the skin and not the muscle. This not only helps to detoxify tissues, regenerate cells and improve circulation, but it also helps to remove excess fluids from the body’s tissues.
How may I benefit?
This therapy can be used in its own right to improve general well-being, to boost immunity and reduce sinus congestion, to reduce edema/swelling, to improve sleep or perhaps as part of structured detoxification plan. It can also be used to help prepare the body for conception, during IVF, throughout pregnancy and post-natally.
Lymph drainage as part of a detox
The detoxifying abilities of the lymphatic system can be reduced by poor diet, lack of exercise, stress and environmental toxicity (modern life in general!). Through regular stimulation of the lymphatic system, the cleansing and immune boosting properties of this vital body system are nourished and regenerated.
Lymph drainage in Pregnancy
A woman’s wonderful body undergoes many physiological and emotional changes during her pregnancy. One of the major systemic changes she undergoes affects her cardiovascular system. By the third trimester, pregnant women have 40 percent more fluid in their bodies and consequently, more swelling in their lower extremities.
One of the most efficient and safest modality to reduce swelling and enhance lymph circulation is lymphatic drainage. And although the changes cardiovascular system don’t generally start until late in the first trimester or early in the second trimester, following lymphatic protocol throughout the entire pregnancy and for at least three months postpartum is the safest, most appropriate way to treat tired, sore, achy and swollen legs (and to continue secreting those feel-good relaxing hormones!).
