Naturopathic treatments including probiotics, herbal medicines and nutritional supplements are extremely effective in treating mastitis. Early detection and treatment is important so please be sure to contact our naturopath, Belinda Kirkpatrick, at the Red Tent on (0400 551 622) for an appointment or an acute phone consultation (15min) to begin your treatment as soon as possible.

It’s important to remember that there are many different strains of probiotics which all work in different ways. There are also different qualities of probiotics products available, many being quite useless! It is advisable to consult your naturopath before taking probiotics to ensure that you are taking quality products with the correct strains and dosage for your individual needs.

Naomi & Rebecca effectively treat many post natal women struggling with acute and recurring mastitis with chinese herbs and acupuncture. Acupuncture works well as it can help regulate milk supply, improves circulation within the breast, and helps prevent stagnation in the milk ducts.

Please be aware if you are a new mum, if you are getting sore or cracked nipples or have had mastitis with a previous bub, you are at a higher risk of getting mastitis, and we feel that in light of this recent study, it would suggest that taking some probiotics would be a good idea to try and prevent mastitis.
