Many thanks for your wonderful Acubirth workshop. I have been singing your praises ever since returning to Parkes.

My first night at work after your workshop, I had the most wonderful young woman who responded beautifully to the acupressure that I tried.

I work in a small rural hospital, with an enrolled Nurse to help. I had your workshop book out on our desk. My Nurse kept going out to see what points I was using. As our mother responded very well, my nurse was really amazed.

Hopefully some of our other midwives will see themselves going to Sydney to do this workshop.

Thank you again for an excellent, professional workshop.

Hi Rebecca and Naomi, I thoroughly enjoyed the day and have come back sprouting it to all, in fact one of my colleagues presented with severe “indigestion” and after eliminating a cardiac event I tried the PC-6 and the ST-44 and she admitted she got effective relief, I was stoked. Thanks again Eileen (Acubirth Melbourne 2011)

This workshop is run by Naomi Abeshouse and Rebecca Mar Young, both qualified acupuncturists and specialists in obstetric care, who, together, founded the Red Tent Health Centre in Woollhara, Sydney which offers safe, natural and effective support, for pregnancy and birth.

The techniques and tools that are used are easy to learn, convenient and effective, which means you can confidently teach your clients yourself, as well as their support people. These techniques include encouraging the progression of labour, facilitating the baby to turn into an optimal position, decreasing the amount of birthing pains, reducing nausea and vomiting when it arises, and supporting mums with management of their anxiety and birthing concerns.

What makes this workshop unique is the inclusion of acupressure points which we have found to be invaluable for the treatment of uncomfortable symptoms during pregnancy, such as reflux, morning sickness, cramps and exhaustion. How these acupressure points work and how best to use them is explained incorporating both western and eastern principles and this integrative approach to treatment and support is a cornerstone of the Red Tent’s philosophy.

As we have been teaching couples these techniques for the past four years with great success we felt it was time to teach midwives who could potentially assist so many couples. The positive response from the midwives casually taught at St George’s Hospital in Sydney, has prompted us to produce an accredited course for your profession.

What you will gain from this course is an awareness and understanding of acupressure and a confidence to use the points within consultations with your clients and their support team, in a professional and integrative way.
